ill titleWelcome!

This is the home site of the Carter County Crystal Cave (C4), located in Elizabethton, Tennessee. It has also been called Love Cave in the past, and referenced as Golf Course Cave due to the proximity to the Elizabethton golf course. The cave is over a thousand feet long and relatively horizontal, with a few climbs. The name is assumed to be from the fact that the cave features many crystal growths throughout. Full detailed maps are available, to help see the cave's layout.

Carter County Crystal Cave: 'flowstone' by Kevin Bruff, 2009 The cave was gated in approximately 1993 and is not currently open to the general public. Serious inquiries by experienced cavers interested in a photographic trip can contact the cave owner. Access to the cave is purposefully limited and must be scheduled in advance. Sorry, unscheduled walkups will always be turned away.

Carter County Crystal Cave: 'whiteflow' by Kevin Bruff, 2009 The cave is currently owned by Jeff Miller. Previous owners include Jeff Forristal (2006-2009), Robert Bryne (2002-2006), JD & Amy Shelton (1989-2002), and Billy & Dreama Giles (? - 1989).

A basic survey map was created sometime in the 1970s by Jay Cox et. al. The map only shows the main passageways. View high-resolution map scan [PDF].

A more detailed survey map was drafted by Paul Gaskins et. al. in 1995. The map illustrates many of the features that C4 has to offer. The map won Honorable Mention in the 1996 NSS Cartographic Salon. View high-resolution map scan [PDF].
